When it comes to blood transfusion, it takes all types

KILLEEN, Texas (September 11, 2017) – Carter BloodCare has a mission that blood will be on the shelves for any patient that requires a transfusion, right when moments matter, right here in our community. Because of this, many volunteer blood donors give about an hour of their time and what some would call a priceless pint of blood, as regularly as they can. Some donate as often as every two months, since 56 days is the required minimum waiting period between whole blood donations.

Carter BloodCare: Donating blood puts spring in your step

CORSICANA, Texas (March 9, 2017) – Saving three lives may sound like something only heroes can do. But blood donors are heroes who save three lives with each donation. These everyday heroes give the blood that benefits patients with cancer, heart disease, organ transplants and even new moms and babies, when required. Giving the gift of life only takes about one hour – and it can also help you, the blood donor, to feel good about yourself. This is the perfect month to get some spring in your step.

Carter BloodCare’s New Year’s Resolution: see more first-time donors

HUBBARD, Texas (January 17, 2017) – Donating blood for the first time may be a scary proposition. And depending on the person, trying anything new for the first time may be daunting. A new exercise regimen, a new hobby, renewed efforts to live your best life – all of these take work, time or money. But one New Year’s resolution that only takes about an hour of time and no money whatsoever is blood donation. It’s the only New Year’s resolution that potentially changes the lives of four people: the donor and the three patients whose lives are saved with one whole blood donation.

Blood donors wanted: give hope to hospital patients when summer supply dips

WHITNEY, Texas (August 7, 2017) – Of all seasons, summer tends to be the one when blood donations take a dip, and not the kind that cools you off when temperatures are in the triple digits. Summer is the single most difficult season for Carter BloodCare to recruit blood donors. And the blood transfusions required for many patients cannot wait until temperatures come down.
